Everyone, meet Beverly.
Yesterday at about 10 in the morning Tot called me from work and said that this pup had been wandering around the large lot in the back of their work. The pup was very scared and seemed to be confused, but not aggressive or mean. Animal control was called and we were told that and given the condition of this dog and the fact that Beverly, the name we have lovingly given, is a pitbull that this dog would never see an adoption floor and would be euthanized most likely over the weekend. With this information, I went to Tot’s work to help with this loving little babe before animal control could come and pick up the dog. Within 20 minutes of sitting on the ground and throwing food we were able to get Beverly over to us and by some grace of the universe we were able to get this terrified and hurting pup into the back of my car and over to a rescue (Famous Fido Rescue) and then a vet. The rescue is full and unable to support Beverly financially, but was able to find us a vet that was willing to do the vetting for half the cost.
Beverly is sweet and kind and has been horribly neglected, mistreated, and then abandoned. Tot and I refuse to let this dog down- so I am coming to you all. We did not plan on Beverly coming into our lives but I feel lucky to have saved this dog yesterday, and am going to do everything in my power to either keep Beverly under my care or find an appropriate foster/permanent loving home.
The vet said that Beverly appears to be around 1 1/2 years old. As you can see Beverly has severe demodex and is missing a lot of fur. Beverly needs antibiotics, medicine, lots of vet upcoming vet visits, and at some point a spay.
If you could help by signal boosting, donating money towards Beverly’s care and vetting, or know of resources to help this beautiful, sweet baby I would be eternally appreciative of any and all support.
Edit: Attn. Chicago: We need a safe place for a short time that Beverly can stay at, specifically free of other animal companions. I will pay for any costs incurred.
